Growing your Superannuation

Couple researching superannuation

What is Super?

Superannuation or ‘super’ is money set aside while you are working to help support your financial needs in retirement. For most people, super starts when you start work, and your employer starts paying a percentage of your salary or wage into a super fund. Your employer contributes to super as part of your salary or wage.

You can generally choose your super fund and also make additional voluntary contributions up to a cap. The amount of super that is paid is determined and legislated by the Federal Government (subject to rules and legislation).

Generally, the more you contribute to super in your working life, the more you will have in retirement.

What is the purpose of Super?

Your super money is invested within your super fund until you retire or meet specified conditions of release, and can then gain access to your super. The Federal Government can make legislative changes to the super system and have regularly done so since its inception in 1992 it is important to stay up to date with these changes, as it could impact your personal position.

Investments and Structure within Super

Getting the investment mix right within your super fund can make a huge difference to the long-term success and sustainability of your super. Choosing the right super fund and the right super structure all require an understanding of what is right for you. Different people, different stages of life, and different personal circumstances can alter the decisions we make around investments and structures chosen within the super environment. What type of super fund is right for you?

At Eucha Private Wealth, we can help you not only understand super but also work with you to make better decisions for the long-term.
